D.I.Y. Silicon bronze
« on: December 23, 2014, 05:48:36 AM »
Hi everyone

I have been experimenting with making D.I.Y. silicon bronze called P.M.G. metal. I was amazed how ductile this alloy is. Have a look at the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wD6LpuwM9gU

Very interesting alloy you have there, have you tried machining it?

That book is a good find for anyone with a furnace, no excuse for not having the right metal for any project. So, was PMG metal specified by the Postmaster General? Cheers, Hugh.

Thor I machined the sign and it machined really well.

ths I have wondered about the same thing. Silicon bronze came about because tin so expensive to make bronze.
