Pip-squeak engine finished
« on: October 20, 2014, 01:30:33 AM »
This one is called the pip-squeak that's from a plan by Bill Reichart available from Little Machine Shop https://littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=2343.   Note that there is more than one engine floating around with this name.  This is my third engine and is also my third oscillator.

I made a build log over at http://www.modelenginemaker.com/index.php?topic=4028.0.  The plan suggested using gun blue for a finish, but a few practice attempts convinced me to steer from that for now.  Instead, I got to play with polishing more-or-less for the first time and it came out pretty good.  It was a little stiff when I reassembled the engine, but it's working well once again after I ran it for a while.

Let's start with a video....(I fixed the link --Todd)
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cYaCKIgP_8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cYaCKIgP_8</a>

And here are a few close-up photos of the finished engine.

Thanks to all for the help, comments, and encouragement!   There were a few spots where I really needed it.

Todd

Nice 8)

There is one last thing it needs: I was told that an engine is never finished until it has a maker's plate on it with the date of manufacture  ;)

Well done Tod

;) You sure put in a lot of effort with the finish - it looks and runs great!

Kind regards, Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!
