Small Helix Gears by
« on: September 23, 2014, 05:43:58 AM »
I have the plans for a small engine, but it has a side shaft , and I can not find the  2 to 1, left hand, helix gears in a small size. Would like the gears to be smaller then .4" in diameter. Can any one help me ?

Hi Ken,
If you feel adventurous you could always make your own. Chuck Fellows has a thread on making just such gears and he along with Marv Klotz came up with a spreadsheet that will give you the required numbers. I have made my own and was very happy to have accomplished yet another gear making project.

Ken what sizes are you looking for?

Pairs of 64DP gears are available off the shelf 10/20 teeth = 0.221"/0.442"

The L/H are special order from HPC Jo.

Ken did you want equal dia gears? with different helix angles on the two to give the 2:1?
