The engine is still a little tight but it runs. Here are some pictures:

Now if I did this correctly this should be a video of it running:

Nicely done

I see from the background that you are also into tinplate trains.
Best regards

Indeed, that's part of how I found my way to this hobby. I have always had Lionel O gauge trains since I was a kid. From there I got interested in live steam and then makeing stationary engines. The hope it that I will eventually get good enough to make something that will run on my layout.

Thanks for watching

Good one,  nicely done!
When an engine runs for the first time it's a great experience.
BTW I still have my Lionel O gauge trains, c.a. 1950, in their original boxes along with a carton of track.
Best,
Stan

Lionel, I wondered why the track was not totally familiar. My late father was and my brother is an avid collector of European tinplate trains, Hornby, Basset Lowke, Bing, Bub Marklin etc.
Best regards

Well done Tony

Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!

Thanks everyone. I have learned one thing from this. I need to come up with a better way to measure tail stock travel when I am drilling in the lathe. That's going to be this weekend's project. That will keep me busy while I wait for the material for my fancy.
