Any one finding the site slow
« on: August 10, 2014, 06:13:04 PM »
I am finding the site very slow

It is slow across all my devices eg IPad,MacBook Pro,iMac

All other sites are ok

The internet connection is ok at 120 meg and tests ok with speedtest.net

When I ping the site it's ok but trace route gets stuck on the last two hops

The site will load after 30 seconds or i would not be posting

This slowness is also there when navigating the site

My aim is for a accurate part with a good finish

I have noticed it as well  :killcomputer:

I am guessing that our host server is subject to a cyber attack, they normally find a cure is a short while. Arnold may know more.

Our hosting provider has been experiencing some issues, but they've not exactly made clear on what, and are busy working on things.

The current symptoms I have is that once a link is clicked, at takes a while before anything happens - after which the link loads quite quickly.

From some other testing, I'm suspecting DNS issues combined with changes the hosting provider had scheduled - unfortunately these can take up to 24 hours to settle down.  Lets give things a bit of time and see what happens.

It's late evening here; I'll check things tomorrow morning, and if it's not better, I'll raise the issue with our hosting provider.  From my own IT background, I know that raising a stink with IT people who are trying to sort out a problem is actually counter-productive  ::) - sometimes a bit of patience pays off.

Kind regards, Arnold

Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!

Thanks Arnold

Yes I know what you mean

I cannot repair the fault while I am talking to you
Is what I used to say to the computer centre manager when I looked after the centre engineering for one of the UK banks for 27 years

Made them so mad  :mischief: but they got the message in the end

I have to be careful with internet faults as I beta test for apple and have pre release OS on my iMac due to
NDA

In rural Essex we are pleased to be up to around 2 meg  ::)

Yes, the site is definitely slow here tonight, but late last night it was totally unavailable for a time.
