Something for the train buffs
« on: July 30, 2012, 03:38:13 PM »
I saw this mentioned over on HSM and, even if you're not into trains, I think you'll enjoy watching this just to appreciate the time and effort that must have gone into this display.  Enjoy.

Marv, of course you realise you owe me a new keyboard now.... - I won't get the slobber off the old one!

Thanks for sharing that link - I might now have a good reason to come to the USA at some point  :)

Kind regards, Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!

great clip. Thanks Marv. at about 2:35 mins is a loco with a linkage system I've not seen before, was it a common usage setup? or just a modellers fancy?
Cheers

Thanks Marv.

I really like those trains.  Used to ride a steam train here at the park many moons ago.

Thanks Marv had to watch it a couple times! Wish I lived closer to this I know my father in law would love to attend this (so would I)!
Here is the show we go to every year it's coming up they have a narrow gauge and a full size train running the tracks.

I have a friend that is a lover of all things railroad. I passed this link on to him and he would like to know if I can find out the location for him. He is retired and I suspect he may be looking for an excuse to take a trip sometime in the future. Thanks.

Cheers

Marv,
Nice to see a bunch of 2.5" scale American narrow gauge and two narrow gauge Shays.

at about 2:35 mins is a loco with a linkage system I've not seen before, was it a common usage setup? or just a modellers fancy?

Pete,
That is a grasshopper locomotive. This was a 1830's design used on the early B&O railroad.

Thanks for the link Dan. Have never seen that style and now wonder why it was droped? Too complicated or not as efficient design? Liked it but I'm known to have wacky ideas too.
