That is coming along nicely, and you've a very nice filing machine. Love to have one myself.

Cheers, Hugh.

Part 5 the end of the journey

The next thing to do was start the flywheel

Facing the ends

Trapanning the recesses

Onto a mandrel to true up the rim

Over to the mill to drill and tap for the set screw.

The bearing was pressed into the frame after lapping.

After the locktite kicked the oil hole was drilled.

Then the pin was soldered in. While that was pickling it was time to make a base. I had a piece of scrap Corian that would do the trick.

Squaring up the base in the mill.

Transfer punching the hole locations

Drilling and tapping the holes in the base. Then it was time to assemble. At that point I realized I was out of 5-40 hardware. In keeping with the general look of the engine I decided to make a square nut instead of a hex.

Drilling and tapping the nut prior to parting off.

Here is the finished engine. It's still kind of tight so I am going to run it in for a while before I take a video. Now that this is done I have to do some work on my lathe and then I think I'll make Elmer's fancy.
