Tufnol and other Plasticky Stuff

I know I should really be chewing castings into shape and other grunty stuff, but I'm a bit of a fraud and play with ally and plastic mostly...  :old:

So, for any other wimps but too shamefaced to admit it, there are some hints & tips and other info. here:

Which may be of some use.

Thanks for that Dave

I worked out yesterday that my HSS that was shaped to cut brass was cutting the tufnol best  :).

Dave, no shame in using plastics, not these days with all the high tech engineered plastics out there. Have you looked under your car's hood (er.....bonnet) lately. Unless its an antique, there is an amazing amount of plastic used these days even in components hear to or in some cases attached to the engine itself, not to mention the rest of the car.

Last year I got some tufnol type material from a local engineering company.  They were very helpful and as well as supplying some material, they gave me some general and machining information.  They are attached for your entertainment......
cheers
