Adrian's Model Engines
« on: July 10, 2014, 06:36:34 PM »
As I know we all love and miss the wonderful monthly input on the website of the great  :NotWorthy: Ron Chernich. I thought you might like to know that one of the other motor boys has started his own website:

http://www.adriansmodelengines.com/index.html

It went on line yesterday and is looking like it will build to be a real gem  :whoohoo:

Thanks for posting that Jo.  As a newcomer to the model engineering hobby I appreciate any pointers to those who were well known in it but have passed on

Cheers,
Phil

Thanks for the heads up Jo - that is good news  :) I do miss Ron's monthly dose of I/C matters - a big loss indeed but Adrian did/does such good informative write ups that this is truly welcome. Long may it continue

Adrian's website seems to have disappeared. Anybody know what is going on? I was getting used to popping in once a month.

Was there more than the first one Steve? I only saw the one when Jo first mentioned it - have looked since but nothing appeared to be added

Yes - Adrian had added another four or five engines to the site - nice ones too.

I've just received an update from Adrian on his website:

"As many of you know, I began my attempts to develop a partial replacement for Ron Chernich’s superb “Model Engine News” (MEN) web site soon after Ron’s tragic demise earlier this year. The original effort did get up onto the Web but was never fully developed, nor did it get the kind of ongoing attention that such a site requires. This unhappy state of affairs was due entirely  to a progressively increasing lack of focus on the part of the web-master, who finally broke off all communication with me without so much as an apology or explanation. I still do not know why this happened, because he has unilaterally ended all contact with me, without discussion.

This left me in the lurch (and out of pocket), but I was too committed to keeping at least part of Ron’s legacy going to just give up. Thanks to some splendid work by my new colleague Todd Higden of Frontline Multimedia Inc., I have just now completed my second attempt. This time, it’s set up so that I can update it myself without any assistance from outside – I won’t make the mistake of relying on others again! The cost in both the steep learning curve and the additional cash outlay has been considerable, and I can only hope that at least some of you find enough merit in the new site that the investment in time and money will be seen as worthwhile. If you like the site, please spread the word!  If you don’t like it, please tell me!"

It is due to go live on 1/12/14  :whoohoo:

Interesting and a bit strange too, since I have read a new article on the site a few weeks ago - after I solved a local DNS issue ....

I'll still look forward to see and visit the new site  :)
