Marv, thanks for your very special German comment and the compliment, but to be honest, I am far away of being a kind. My reason is only to get a kind of balance/compensation with my normal business life. If you spent hours and hours sometimes in meetings with never ending and useless discussions, than you need something that can be started in the morning and the result is in your “hands” at the late afternoon.

Tim, thanks for your friendly words.

Rod, it will be a pleasure for me, if I will find some of my details from this build in other engines.

Gail, I appreciate it very much if you have had fun during following my ride.

Jo, thanks for following along, I will wait for your version of a drop valve engine.

Xldevil, thanks for your compliment. I would say, I am in the lower part of the middle section, there is still a lot of space to higher levels.

Vince, thanks for visiting my thread so often and  the always friendly given comments. I wish you much success for the final stage of your MEM Corliss.

Gary, thanks for the compliment. Hopefully your snow engine project is going the right direction and you will be able soon to share some pictures here with us.

Nick, thanks for following along. I hope you have had a chance in the meantime to see the video.

Kim, also to you first of all thanks for your  interest in my build thread. It was good to read your comments and to recognize there is some interest in every stage of the build I have reported.

Don, what shall I say. Nearly every time, shortly after my posting I have got your confirmation, that you have seen it and that you are happy with what you have seen. That is a very big compliment, thanks for that .

Simon, you have been one of the very  first persons commenting my postings. Thanks for that. Tonight, when I will be home again I will make a special video of the engine with sound. Due to  the condenser installation in the basement it is not so noisy anymore.

As everyone has said, Achim, that's a wonderful engine. You should be very proud of it!

The video is excellent too, but I would like to hear the sound of the engine  ;)

Simon

Hi Simon, sorry for my late response. I have tried to catch some sound for you, but that is more difficult as I thought before. Due to the fine adjustment of the engine and these oil separator in the basement, there is no sound anymore. In the following short video I have tried first to hold the camera direct in front of the exhaust pipes, with no real effect. You can hear the bevel gears from the upper floor but no real exhaust noise.
Than I have tried to get a mechanical connection from the exhaust pipe to the camera case close to the mic.
The result is to hear in the secound part of the video. But this is a similar effect as a doctors using a stethoscope.

Hi Achim,
What a fantastic piece of craftsmanship. I have followed your work in the past and am always impressed with your attention to detail and machining.
The video is extremely well done. I also like the background music.

Thanks for the new video, Achim! The quiet running is a testament to your excellent workmanship  It's still nice to hear the valve ticking, and the gears meshing though!

Hi George, I appreciate it very much, that an experienced "Model Engine Maker" like you are, is following my thread and giving such positive comments. Thank you very much for that. As you have mentioned in one of your threads already, I am also overwhelmed by the reaction and comments I have got in this forum for my build report.

Hi John, the engine set up at the moment is adjusted for air use only so far. The LP cylinders are more or less "driven" by the HP cylinders. The timing of the valves allows a kind breathing there. If I would use steam, than I should use the expansion effect of steam and that will need an other adjustment. That all should be possible, because I have made the piston and piston rod from stainless steel. The piston rings are PTFE and should have enough clearance to overcome the plastic deformation by more than 120°C. But for the moment I have no reasonable steam source to try it. Maybe one day. Anyway, thanks for your friendly words, following my thread and watching my video.
Kind Regards
Achim
