Help - Scaling down Sandy Campbell's burner
« on: June 26, 2014, 04:10:35 PM »
Thinking ahead on my Rider-Ericsson Hot Air Engine, I have Sandy Campbell's drawings for a burner. The diameter is 2" but, after reading Bill and Bob's comments on their builds, it seems that a smaller burner would be an advantage.  When I watched Bill run his at Cabin Fever, he had the burner running very low. In addition, Bob feels that a smaller diameter burner would help to keep the heat from going up the sides.
So, what issues need to be addressed when scaling Sandy's burner down to 1.5 or even to 1"?

Does scaling down leave the gas feed tube at a sufficient I.D.?
What size gas jet should be used?

What else?

Thanks for your thoughts
Best,
Stan
