Need an extra hand or two or three etc.
« on: June 06, 2014, 04:29:33 PM »
Had to join some wires together today and whilst I had a pair of human hands to help me this time, I have in the past had a bit of a problem holding them exactly where I wanted them.
So I think in the very near future I will make a few of these to hold anything I want.
Probably be good to hold fiddly parts in place when silver soldering.
If there is enough interest I will post a workshop drawing or if people PM me I will just send it to them.
Cheers.

Elegnt.  In my approach to this problem...

http://www.modelenginemaker.com/index.php/topic,353.msg2345.html#msg2345

I provided a mechanism for fixing the position of the two clamps relative to each other.  That's worked out to be a very useful feature.

Hey Marv,

Some nice jigs there but I think they are a little limited in range of movement .
If there are a few grooves in the jaws and you clamp a piece of something in the jaws first.
Then tighten your clamps on the arms you can do the same thing by doing an aligned butt joint.
Also if you have enough you can hold a variety of parts at various angles to be able to join them.
As a picture is worth a thousand words ( well maybe 100 words with inflation  :) ) here are a few of what I mean.
Cheers.

PS: Phil, expect to see a few photos if you build one or some.

Hi Ausdier, was sitting in the wings, subscribed to the thread, waiting for the drawings to appear online. So there is more people interested in your drawings and holders.
Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of your drawings too ?
