And the first finishing op on the upper face of the bedplates is proven (with a slight tweak to the 2mm dia finishing tool depth anyway), then drilled 1.7 for the studs. Now just three more to go which can run while I get onto the next bit of programming...

All is going well on this one so far - the bedplate milling is complete, and there's the start of their mounting plate fresh from the laser cutter, plus the SW model is progressing well except for some fouling in the valve linkages which I need to investigate. I've got some of them drilled and tapped so far (not in the photo), but I bailed out at M1.2 - the cylinder and bearing threads should have been M1, but after a nervous session at M1.2 i decided that was as far as I safely wanted to go. I know, no stamina...  :disappointed:

On a positive note, the beams are now in the mill being roughed  :whoohoo:

And the first op on the first beam is off of the mill too. There's at least 0.5mm left on all over, but I'll be needing to invest in some good 1.5-2mm ball nose cutters for when these are ready for finishing - the 2mm i got down to on this op has left way to much metal in places...

And a little more progress - the engines are 99% complete with RH/LH mods in place, so now time to model the base ;D

And a SW animation, which I could watch for hours  :whoohoo:

 8) It gives you confidence that your CAD model is correct when it can do that.

LOL, but the CAD model makes no noise if there's a collision. Easier to make a new part though

Thanks again, Dave! Soon for the fun part - turning the base into reality  :naughty:
