aluminum piston ???
« on: May 10, 2014, 05:34:47 PM »
Hi, I plan to use aluminum for a piston. Is there a problem with the aluminum expanding and seizing inside the cylinder? If so , how much smaller should the piston be than cylinder ID. I plan to operate the engine on steam. :???: Thanks for the help.

What is the cylinder material? Also, are you planning on using some kind of ring?

Hi, the cylinder is a galvanized plumbing pipe. I have to bore the pipe to smooth the inside. Heavy white cotton cord for the piston ring.
