Just thinking about the "6", it could be described as a two row radial, with three cylinders per bank, we think of two row radials as a P&W R 1830 Twin Wasp, with 14 cylinders.  It was only today that I noticed that the cylinders are staggered, the 6 are not on the same plane.     Ian S C

Out of interest I have tracked down the original Les C casting set...

As you can see the major difference is that it comes with three  :hellno: aluminum cylinders. Our alternative design  :naughty: uses steel as per Mr Anzani's original design:

No guesses as to which one I will be making  ;)

Jo,
This is an "X" rated thread. Kindly attach an appropriate warning label. Showing these castings to a general audience is cruel.

I am being good really  :LittleDevil: after all I haven't let on to how expensive they are, (not) ;D

Maybe I should make you wait for the delivery of my castings before I let on to any more details :mischief:

Jo is the steel head integral to the cylinder or separate? also looks like it will nee dto be fabricated as it would be a long job to mill those flanges.

Thats a better pic, looks like about 6 parts to the head, as you say a walk in the park for you ;)

I assume the Les C ones used a liner inside the alloy casting

Could all 6 parts be assembled in one heat or would it take more?

If you milled some recessed pockets for the three round bosses and two flanged parts then it should be OK in one heat, with that number its worth making a jif to hold the two flanges.

Have a word with Andrew Jo, I'm sure he could print you some patterns for lost PLA iron or steel castings :cartwheel:

Guys these engines are after the Otto Langen and I need to get her progressing before we get carried away planning these builds.

I've ordered the castings from Mike, the three cylinder ones are available but the six need to be cast, which will be in a week or so. Mike is hoping to be coming to Guildford with them but family commitments are beginning to make it look like they might get dropped off at the next Old Warden meeting at the end of July.

The good news is that I will have them in time for my birthday  8)

Sorry, Jo, I'm having a bit of a hard time keeping up... Are you building the Les C casting set then, which is from Mike???  Where did the steel cylinder & head come from?  Did you fabricate that?  Silver soldered?  Amazing job...
