Sorry my brother, been kinda lagging behind on this one. As usual, some nice looking work. I'm digging the way you have made a tool to make a tool to make another tool. Slicker than gator snot ;)

Thanks Kim, Chuck, Phil, Hugh, and my brother Eric for looking and your support.
Phil nice find bud.
I started today remaking the pivot nut and made a T slot cutter to cut the slots in the table. Believe it or not everything when smooth so far. I managed to get the T Slots cut in the table. I have to mill the inside opening for the stop nuts and drill the handle hole and tap to complete the table. After which I have the stop straps and nuts to make.
First photo I am cutting the T slot blank to size.

After setting up the Dividing head I started milling the T slot cutter teeth. Here I am cutting .050" off the top. The cutter is .5" in diameter.

The finished cutter after milling. I then harden it but didn't temper it. I passed a stone over the reliefs.

After setting up the four jaw chuck on the mill bed I center the table and started cutting .25" slots .3125" deep. I did the x axis first then used the cutter to finish them. Then did the Y axis .25" milling then finish with the T slot cutter.

The last photo shows the completed table milling and the parts we have so far.

That's all for today guys and thanks for looking.

That turned out real nice Don,

I'm sure that down the road we will see some pictures of it in use.

Very nice Don.

Had it been me...I think I would've been sweating buckets. You seem to take it in stride.
I guess that's the difference in knowing what you're doing versus what I do.  ;D

Looks good Don!  And that little T-slot cutter came out really nice and seemed to work well for you.

Don, Impressive little Tee slot cutter you have made  8). I must get around to doing some graduating and punching the numbers on various things.

Are you going to polish the top? I was lucky and had access to a surface grinder when I made mine all those years ago, not that it made it immune to the odd milling cutter plunge over the years  :facepalm2:

You are getting me tempted to get Sexy's tilting table back out.. the castings have had a couple of months to season now so should be stable  ;D.

Thanks Dave my brother and Dave , Kim, Zee and Jo for looking and following along.
Jo no I don't plan on polishing the top.
Well I bragged to much yesterday to I got another dose of the dumb ass. I started drilling the handle holes and without looking at my drawings I thought the hole were .375 but they were suppose to be .3125". Well I have to live with that and really it's not to bad.
Ok first photo I am drilling the holes after locating position.

Next cutting the aperture to be able to insert the locking nut into the dovetail.

A photo of the table complete, you can see the aperture.

Next I silver soldered a piece of .25x 1" piece onto a 1" x.5 x 3" piece of steel. We will use this for chucking into the four jaw chuck.

centering to the drill point marks with the Tailstock center.

Cutting the outside profile.

Drilling the locking screw hole into the locking pads.

Slitting of the locking pads off the parent stock.

And a photo of what we have thus far.

Thanks for looking and we still have the handle and locking nuts to make.

I got another dose of the dumb ass.

Sorry about that. I know I'm infectious but people usually recover within a shorter time.
I'm sure you'll be fine.  ;D

I am just catching up with this one Don, sorry about that...had my own case of dumb ass to recover from as well. You are doing a fantastic job on this and it shows despite the hiccup with the graduations. Just an amazing piece of work overall and will make a fine addition to the tool box. Speaking of which, will you also make a "brown stuff" box to keep it in? Awesome project!!!

Thanks Dave, Zee, Bill and Hugh for the encouragement and following along. I decided to put brass inserts in the hole and reduce them down to the right size. I managed to make the locking nuts and stop block with the fiduciary line. Since I put inserts I can use the first handle I made.

Bill I do have a box for it and it's one I purchased from Michael's.

Ok I started by silver soldering another piece of .25x1" stock to the end of the bar. This will be the stop nuts. First I had to cut it into a curve profile slit it off the stock to width. Then drill a hole into the mounting bar to be secured onto a mandrel. Then cut the top surface to diameter which was 1 17/32" after which I silver soldered the arc I had slit off to the top of the bar.
This first photo I am slitting the arc off the parent stock.

A photo of the arc I slit off.

The arc silver soldered to the bar.

Cutting the 20 degree dovetail onto the arc.

Checking the fit of the securing washer and nut.

A photo of the table thus far. I still have more to do to complete it. I also have a riser block to mount it to the mill with to complete and Yes T nuts and Jo's favorite studs.

Bill this photo is for you my friend, this is the box for the rotary table.

That's all for today and thanks for looking.

Ah, so you went back to 5/16ths. The brass looks great in there, could start a trend.

Hugh.
