Model Exhibition in Malta
« on: May 05, 2014, 03:42:35 PM »
Apparently there is a local annual exhibition of models which was held last weekend.  I did not know about it and even if I did I could not attend as I was abroad.  A friend sent me some photos and with his permission I would like to share them with you.  Not all models are engines but I'm sure there will be persons who will appreciate the non-engine models.

An impressive display.  Count yourself lucky.  You live in a country of about half a million people and they can put together a nice model engineering show.  I live in a state of 38 million people and nobody seems able to organize a viable show.

Those AME cards have the same logo as Australian Model Engineering magazine, and some of the other info cards suggest it was Australian. Are you sure it was in Malta Vince? Sorry to question it...Hugh.

Glad you enjoyed the photos.

Dave, I would like to be there next year but they do not seem to advertise the event a lot.  It's more word of mouth.

No problem Hugh.  As I did not take the photos you could have been right so I started examining the evidence to convince myself that these photos were local.  Fortunately, two of the photos show typical Maltese models, namely the windmill and next to it the Maltese fishing boat. There is also a partial view of a famous Knights of Malta watch tower that is painted in red.  And finally I noticed that the wall of the building were the exhibition was held was made of old limestone blocks which for me was enough to convince me that the photos were local.

Not quite the same as 'our' AME Hugh. Very close, I will admit.

I looked at it very early in the morning, jumped not so much to a conclusion, but to a rushed assumption. My deepest apologies Vince, the work is of a very high standard, and I wish that our own exhibitions were closer to where I live. As Marv said, remarkable work from such a small population, and I hope to see more in the future. Hugh.

Vince, I knew there are some fine modellers of Stirling Engines, but I didn't realize there were all those other modellers, that's amazing, thank you.     Ian S C

Thanks for sharing Vince  :) -there's a lot of really nice work there.

I'm slightly envious...  Been digging around locally for fellow model engineers, but have only found two others here in Namibia, and they're not interested in setting up a public show at all - and are barely communicative at personal level...

Kind regards, Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!
