Wabeco Screw Cutting Clutch
« on: April 29, 2014, 08:40:28 AM »
For those Wabeco lathe owners the link below takes you to the latest addition for these lathes, my thanks to Tom Hess for providing the video and having the faith in my design to carry out the adaptation. As with most of my conversions existing tapped holes have been used through out, it does however require the fitting a new 42T Mandrel gear.

Youtube vids blocked at work but am guessing this is for the D4000 or D6000 so doubtful I can adapt it to my D2000  :(

Hi Dave,

No problem with the SB, the Wabeco design was started at the end of last October and it was a joint effort in as much as I helped Tom out with a couple of items, so you can see it is not an overnight job. I know the pressures of family life, while my daughter got married and flew the nest she lives only minutes away on foot and there are two lovely Grandchildren who just love to come and see what there Granddad is "inventing", (that's little Rosie's idea of what I get up to). Plus I have my vegetable plot to tend to now that the summer is on it's way, (I am hoping, some say we have had it already over Easter), just do not leave it until you retire, there is even less time available then.

My best regards
Gray,

Just to keep you all informed of matters relating to this design, I have this morning downloaded all the required drawings and photographs of this unit to David Carpenter at,

http://modelengineeringwebsite.com

The drawings will be loaded onto this site in due course for access by all, there are other clutches on this site.

(I have to add reluctantly due to a recent comment made on another forum, that I have not profited from this or any other of my designs, they have all been done for the love of the hobby, and for the enjoyment and benefit of all).

My best regards
Gray,

Hi Jo,

Thanks for that I needed a boost, I have only ever tried to benefit the hobby.

With regards to the future we shall all have to wait and see as I am going to be out of action for a while, following "a date" with "Mac the Knife" on my left wrist.

I have in the last few minutes heard the details will be loaded onto the above web-site in 2-3 weeks.

My best regards
Gray,

I hope your 'visit' goes well. I was disappointed to see the criticisms and negativity around your work.

I too have felt much mobbed up especially as I try to work on the principle  ' Never criticise someone's ideas unless you have an alternative and better solution!' Thank you for some very interesting and useful idea.

We will all be awaiting your return.

Good luck with the op. Carry on designing and publishing, I enjoy you writing and admire the designs, they have that tool room feet like GHT.

Thanks Guys, nice to know there are still some ladies and gentlemen out there.

Just to let you know that I have just been cajoled into doing a clutch for another fellow countryman of yours, this time it is the Clausing series 100 Mk III. It will give me something to do while I convalesce. Once I get started I will start an new thread on this site as they are a bit thin on the ground this side of the pond.

My best regards
Gray,

I hope you won't disappear from this place. The one you had troubles with can be a very unusual place indeed, but then it's mostly chatter there, and the focus can spread wildly and with hurtful results.

All the best,

Hugh.

Hi Gray,
Just like to pass on my best wishes also for the hand op. Like others here I am in awe of the work you do & that you are more than happy to share it. I hope you are not left handed & will be able to draft & write while you get over Mac's attention! I'm sure there is a bunch of us here that cant wait for the next item you produce.

Cheers Kerrin
