Thanks muchly Don!!  Yes I will take some pictures of the test stand and go one better, post the plans for it in the plans section. What I like about it is the large dial which only goes from 0-15 psi...a perfect range for our type engines. It also has a drawer for some tool storage. I'll do that later tonight.

Kim and Dave Reeves...this post if for you guys.  Rudy calls for a spring between the back of the engine mounting plate and the thumbwheel. I made one...actually several and it  does work but I didn't like how it looked. The only purpose of the spring is to keep the valve pulled rearward so that it doesn't tangle with the con rod bearing. I modified this and instead used a small brass bushing which just fits over the threaded end of the valve and takes up the space the spring normally would. I adjusted the thumb screw so there was maybe .005" of end play...enough to let the bushing float but not enough to let the valve move forward enough to interfere. Just an idea to consider.  Picture below. Overall I think it looks a lot neater.

Bill, I omitted this on my engines. I found that I was able to make the pin just right is the end play was ok without it. What a great runner. I will get mine complete soon.  Thanks for the kick in the pants to get it done

Congratulations Bill!  She runs like a champ!

And thanks for the advise on the valve spring.  I may give that a try.  I was thinking if it was just a really weak spring it might be OK, but I agree, the spring looks kinda funny.

Awesome job Bill!

Looks and sounds great  :praise2:  :praise2: You just need the CO2 cylinder from a fizzy drinks machine and that will be airborne  ;)
Best regards

Interesting idea Roger. I have never worked with the CO2 cylinders but know of them of course. Can they be regulated? Wondering how long this engine would run on one too. Could be a handy addition for those times you don't want to set up the compressor but would still like to demonstrate the engine running.

There is quite a history to CO2 powered flying models. Hopefully this link works:

Bill, I got the itch to complete my multi year build of the mini Radial 5. You have shamed me to get it done with your speed build of yours   Here is a picture of the transfer tubes.  I need 5 rods and 5 Pistons.

That's great news Dave, if its just the rods and pistons you have left then it won't be long until mine has a friend...maybe they can meet up at CF 2015 :)  And BTW, you were the inspiration for me even doing it in the first place so I owe you for that!!
