Jo my apology for not acknowledging you earlier. I accidently over look you. Now working in brown is really not that bad Jo, just softer stuff.

Just want to agree with all the comments above.  Beautiful wood work to hold a fine piece of equipment!  You did it proud!

Boxes.
Hand crafted, dovetailed, tightly fitted, beautiful grain, smoothly finished. Wood boxes are next to godliness. Deal with it!

Don

I'm with Mosey on this one... nice work on the tool, and nice work on the box.
(says the guy who spent nearly as long on the box as he did on his dividing head)

Cheers, Joe

Hi Don
What a nice box to ensure your Dividing Head is kept in pristine condition. Why not treat it to a green felt lining?

It does make a pleasant change to do a bit of woodwork, well done.

                                                                                                 Cheers David

Yo Dog, that's saweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.   I'd be happy if they put me away in a box that nice. I'm with David, a lining of some sorts would be nice. The green felt might clash with the green paint, but there are other colors; black sure would make the tool stand out. Great job Don. Say it with me: "I like :NotWorthy:"

Beautifully done, Don.
Before I moved to metal, I was making furniture for years. I know how much craftsmanship is involved and you've got plenty in that box. Six thumbs up!!
Best,
Stan

Thanks My brothers Eric and Stan for your inputs and looking.

David if you look at my first quote in the thread. I ask about flocking the box. I guess I took it for granted that everyone knew what flocking was. To make it clear for those that don't. Flocking is the process of depositing many small fiber particles (called flock) onto a surface. You do this by applying glue first. In this case it's green felt lining. I am not to keen about doing it because of oil.

Thanks for your input David.

I've wondered about flocking myself.
I'm coming to the conclusion that I wouldn't do it.
At most I might stick in some of the removable black liner used in tool chests.
But that kind of takes away from the look.

I'm thinking I'd leave it alone. Let it get oil-stained and dinged.

Over time it will add a lot of character.

Make a nameplate and attach it. Include a year. That's the kind of box some kid is going to come across years from now and that will add some meaning to it.

Thanks Carl that's the kind of input I needed. There will be a brass tag on the box with date and my name.
