Calibration
« on: April 01, 2014, 11:35:28 AM »
I just thought I'd show off my gucci kit a little... a couple of DTIs came up for their annual calibration this morning, so I cracked out the Mitutoyo cerablock set :)

I think it is best he sends me the clock and I will carry out a few experiments to find out :naughty:

It might take a while as I would want to get it right :mischief:

Temp must be wrong ,not at a temperature required for good work

But with that amount of error they are totally unusable send them to me I do not work to that level  :pinkelephant: I could manage with them both

Jo - I've got tonnes of the blooming things here! I still use a dial one in the machine shop though.. I also found a set of vernier calipers from the olden days, serial number not even in my calibration log anymore! They're mine now haha, much better than digitals :D

Ramon - The clock - tolerance is +/- 0.005 so it still passes.

And how long does it take to stablise the clock temperature before calibration  :naughty: ?

But a Swiss clock that only measures to 0.001mm :disappointed: The one I have for Sexy measures to 0.0001 (and better if you want to look see how far between those ticks it is sitting  8)) I just wish my accuracy of my other machines was as good

Tell you what: you can bring a few "spare ones" down to the MEM stand at the GMES show and we could generously conduct those tests for you I mentioned. I tend to agree that a dial is better than a digital but I am willing to be proven wrong  ;).

Jo

But the calibration will be off when you get your hot mitts on them  :cartwheel:

Note I did not use the S word as we all know young ladies just glow horses do the other

Take care

Heff...you've got a gold mine there. You've got something 'someone' wants and you can name some better terms than "we'll test it for you".
You like hot cross buns? A curry?  :naughty: I wish I were in your shoes. All I can offer is an image of a geezer in a tu-tu...as handsome as he is.

Sorted out some digital calipers this afternoon, put a new 12 month sticker on. 0.00 accuracy across the full range - even the ones I use will read 0.01 out in places.
