I motored the engine for a couple of minutes in the lathe quite slowly, and it loosened up quite nicely without any major stress. OK, now the plans call for 20cc of oil in the sump, which is supposed to be .625" deep. Not even close. 20cc is .375" deep. So, how much oil is the right amount? My guess is enough to wet the big ends at the bottom of their stroke. By the way, I am using a high quality 10w30 motor oil.
Ideas?

I usually run the engines I build 5 or 10 min but I agree it more than likely isn't necessary. I do that then check all the screws and make sure they are still tight and then consider it ready to go. Funny to see this thread I just did a run in on my build.
