Does the vice not bolt directly to the bed without the use of the clamps?

Nice!

Thanks Dave and Heffalump :)

The vice had two bolts, but the just barely holds on to the t-slot.
Kind regards

Hi Marinus,

Very nice set up.

Your lathe looks to be of the same family as mine. Just a tip which I found out the hard way. The tailstock is located axially by two spring loaded ball bearings which run against the inside face of the back way. I could not understand why my tailstock kept going off centre...........finally I noticed a flat on one of the ball faces. Sure enough the ball was jammed by swarf and locked in place so the spring could not maintain alignment. On pulling things apart both balls springs and their associated keep screws has a below par finish and were anything but free flowing to maintain alignment. So if you are finding the tailstock loses alignment once you move it along the bed this is where you need to look.

Hope this helps keep your nice shop nice.

Best Regards
Bob

Nice set up Marinus. As someone pointed out though, why not find a couple of t-nuts and suitable sized studs to bolt it directly to the table. Given how much it will be used over time, I think its a wise investment and one you will be happy with.
