Compressed air turbo generator
« on: February 28, 2014, 06:09:36 AM »
If you are looking for a quickie engine project that could be made in two weekends then this is the one for you.

There are so many cordless vacuum cleaners thrown out because it is cheaper to buy a new one instead of replacing the nicad batteries.

Instead of using castings like I did wood could be used and even the plastic housing in the photo could be used. This DC motor is a good generator. It is perfectly matched to the speed of the turbine. What happens is that small generators need to spin a lot faster than large generators to give a decent output.

To those who are not sure about electrical connections, the red and black wires from the motor are all that are needed to connect up to a load. Lights are a simple load.

Compressed air is used to spin the turbine. Have a look at the video.   http://youtu.be/c8RNaDN6LF8
