Revolving cylinder engine
« on: February 07, 2014, 05:14:21 AM »
Hi everyone

A while ago I was surfing the  net and saw an engine. http://www.animatedengines.com/revcyl.html

As soon as I saw it I had to build one. It is the strangest and yet very simple engine I have ever seen.

If you are looking to build something very different this maybe the one for you.

It is 215 mm wide and 230 mm high so it would be in the larger size of model engines.

Photos 4-5 show the reversing valve. The video shows it running.

That's a wonderful model! Very quiet running, and an intriguing configuration; it's intersting how the inlet side is offset from the flywheel axis.

Very nice model, looks like it could be done from barstock as well without too much trouble. Wondering if it would scale down to something around a 3" flywheel and still run effectively.  May have to play around with that as time permits. Thanks for sharing the pic, video, and inspiration.

Bill

It could be scaled to what ever size you would like. I often wondered with the balance if the flywheel was 2 meters dia.

Thank you for having a look.

Bill.

joeb  I only pour castings for myself. You could try kit suppliers to see if they have that engine.  Bill.
