We tinkerers seem to all follow the same drummer. Here is what I am working on, now, and in the past few years.

I started out with nothing, I still have most of it left.

I will gather the pics of the R/C helicopters, the model engines, the tether cars etc. and add them for those interested.

The tether cars are awesome. I have seen plans for them over the years but passed. Always wanted to build one just for display.
Do not be like the cat who wanted a fish but was afraid to get his paws wet.

You have some nice toys there!   :agree:
You don`t see many tethered cars around nowadays, I guess remote control did them in!

There was a big round shallow pit at a park in the town near where I grew up.
My dad told me it had been a tether car track. I always regretted I had missed that.

The red #6 is the 6th one I built. #'s 3,4,5 &6 were all similar in that the bodies were hand hammered over a wooden plug. The frames were waterjet cut from 6061 1/2" aluminum. All other pieces were made in the shop. I made up molds for the tires and had them vulcanised at a local rubber shop. They are the same as the "Dooling" cars.
The black car has a wooden body on an aluminum channel frame. It is built just like a full size dirt car of its era, complete with steering, which can be locked for tether running. I built it from a print in Robert Ames' "Vintage Miniature Racing Cars" that I purchased in the early 80's.
