Valve control like ST steam pump
« on: January 22, 2014, 09:57:17 PM »
I've tried a few experiments with the Stuart Turner steam pump type valve control system (sorry I don't know what this set up is actually called) like this one with a massive 6mm diameter power piston...

(that's about as long as it will run in one go due to getting swamped with water/oil... it also requires a fair amount of pressure)

Does anyone have experience of this mechanism when applied to a 'normal' engine rather than a pump? Any disadvantages or suggestions for materials? I like it because it is simple! :D

Cheers

Paul
