Two-cylinder steam engine - homemade.
« on: February 27, 2014, 10:28:19 PM »
Hi,

I would like to show my second engine.

Learned what I decided to design and build a better motor. A two-cylinder double-acting.
It is made with the same tools as above, an electric drill and tool manual.
I have improved the design and manufacture of parts. I am very happy with the result.
This video shows the construction and first test engine:

Here you can see it working at different speeds and condensation box:

Hope you like. Thanks for your attention.

regards,
Juan de Dios.

Pretty nice! Especially impressive for a build using only hand tools. No lathe or mill? Wow!

Thanks guys, me too I'm surprised to have achieved with so few tools.
I'm saving money in 2 months and buy a lathe. I hope to improve my machines.

I would like to show this video of the construction of the boiler and the first tests:

Hello mates,

To improve its performance built a greaser. Powered by condensation. I copied the design of older machines. It's simple and it works.
In this video the engine running with the oiler and steam pipes brass tubes shown:

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfU8mRS-Zto" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfU8mRS-Zto</a>

The other subsequent improvements are:

New bench.
Third foothold in the crankshaft.
Improved clamping cylinders.
Fasteners Oiler and condensation box.
Removing slack in the connecting rods.
Second valve with fast operating system.
Stay on the axis of the pistons.
Adjustable overpressure valve.

I have videos of the last times I've tried it but it works better and the sound is cleaner.

I still have more things I want to do, the most important a small flywheel.

Greetings to all.

That's really nice Juan! In the video I see you have it mounted on a chassis with chain driven wheels, is that a real differential on the rear axle?

 Impressive all the way around!

I had mistaken the video, sorry.

I've already changed. The other video is from my first project.
