Thanks Frazier, How did you fix the prop to the shaft? I have been thinking about this as I know the full sized boats usually have a tapered shaft with keyway and end nut but that would be difficult on our size shafts I am thinking. I too am making the prop to the direction of the best rotation of the engine. It runs on no load at 5 psi clockwise and 7 psi anticlockwise. I am assuming this is to do with the timing and valve openings, but I am happy enough with it as it will not be going too far astern.

Hi Robert, The prop is tapped 5BA and will simply be screwed on with a lock nut so it doesn't  vanish into the lake. This boat maybe a lot smaller than youre build she is only 31inches from bow to stern and about a 7inch beam and to be honest has been a very difficult build and will admit Iv often thought about simply giving up on her.The engine is 5/16bore and 1/2 inch stroke double acting.I had started building her as a simple fill in build  . I prefer to do  true scale builds and think this one has taken far to much effort for what she is a semi scale model. At least when I do my own drawings I can only curse myself.
best wishes
frazer

She's a beaut Frazer!  :NotWorthy:

Kind regards, Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!
