Hello from N.E. Pa.
« on: December 03, 2013, 01:52:49 AM »
I just purchased my sherline lathe about a month ago, and just got a 4 jaw independent chuck last week.
I did take three years of machine shop in high school at a vo-tech. when i graduated I was employed as a lathe operator. After several weeks of making the same part over and over i just could not take it. left machining behind and spent 30 years as a telephone central office switch maintainence man..Well here I am, and I just want to say I have forgot everything I learned in high school.
Well I'm off to work on the HMEM EZ engine I have started, see you around.

Welcome Art!

The trick to 4 jaws is working the jaws in pairs...and some patience.

The good news there is just about nothing that can't go into a 4 jaw chuck!....I wouldn't ever be with out one!

Hi and welcome to MEM Art.  I also have a Sherline lathe and mill and have used them successfully for over a decade now. Great little machines for the smaller projects or for the smaller bits and pieces of larger projects as well. I look forward to your participation in the forum and wish you well on the EZ engine.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I hope to finish this model soon as I can't wait for the next.  If I start a  model 2 before finishing model 1, I may never come back to model 1>

Here is what I have so far.
