A friendly Hello from south of germany
« on: December 05, 2013, 10:01:08 AM »
Dear Gents,
herewith I would like to send a friendly hello from south of Germany, or like ”müllernick” defines, from “the outback of Munich”.
To be honest, first of all I am happy that I have found your community in the net, an second that I am allowed to join it.
I was looking during the last weeks for an international or global forum of real engine model makers which are interested in the stuff itself and nothing else.
After been for some time a guest reader, I think I have found now what I am looking for.
I have had some strange experience with the famous forum of an British model engineering magazine and was bit disappointed.
But I have recognized very quick that this was not the right place to post.
To my person, I am still in working life, so all my projects are a kind of longtime projects.
I have started in 2009 with this hobby, because I felt that power point, excel sheets and dally meetings are not all what can satisfy an engineering like thinking brain.
So there was also the need to do something with the hands again, starting in the morning and having a result in my hands in the evening.
May be some of understand immediately what I felt.
I have started with a small beam engine and during the last 2 years all  my attention is focused at the moment on an valve controlled tandem compound twin engine.
Also the first I.C. engine has finalized some years ago, it was the well known “Webster”.
If I have learned to add some pictures to a post I will try to show you something.
Kind Regards
Achim

Welcome Achim!

I understand your world of PPT and meetings all too well!....Thankfully, there isn't any of that here. 8)

Welcome Achim.
I know what you mean. To start something with your hands in the morning and hold the result in the evening is so much more satisfying than any power point presentation. Although there has been times when I've looked at the result and wished I hadn't bothered! Looking forward to seeing some of your photos.
Strangely enough a marine tandem compound twin is on my to-do list, but not for a while yet.

yours

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
so I learned immediately, that I have done my first "fuaxpas" or silly error already.
My  apologizes to Jo, I did not expect a Lady here, but I like that very much.
To Jo and all other members thank you very much for your warm welcome.
I will try the story with pictures and youtube links at the week end.
Is there any maximum size limit for pictures, like 800x600 and max 130kb i.e. ?
Kind Regards
Achim

Hi Achim,

We prefer smaller pictures to enable people with mobiles (and slow connection) to be able to see the pictures ;)

Attaching pictures to a post you are limited to 8 pictures and 10240KB. If it is too big you can always post them via a photo or video hosting site.

Welcome from across the border (CH). Luckily I still have the chance to do some hands on engineering in my job but there is still too much paper and meetings.
Best regards

Roger
