Why is it whenever I hear the term "Skunkworks" I get reminded of a certain engineering team who got so engrossed in their work that they would work on things solidly for days without a break or going home and as they had not changed their clothes/washed for days they got called the "Skunkworks team". Some nicknames you can never get rid of  :LittleDevil:

I never comment on how bad my son smells after a race,   so I suspect he reciprocates about me!

Hey Dave,

It's time for my annual check-in to see if you guys are behaving yourselves here.  In my last post I was made aware of your RC thread so I read a little bit of it tonight - up to page 7 and then skipped to page 64. It's getting late here and it appears I need several days to read the whole thing.

You've got quite a dealy-wig going on with your son there. I will say that I have been in your shoes with my own son as he was growing up. I supplied the know-how and money and he supplied the skill. This went for both RC cars and planes as well as piano. For the piano, I dived into music theory and he dived into playing the darn thing. Guess who was better? Not me. But I digress..

I assume you've moved on from the Slash? Haven't caught on to what model you guys are currently racing but if MIPS is sponsoring it must be something nice.

For myself, Some time ago I talked my older brother into buying a Rustler along with myself so that we could spend some time together now that we are both retired. He was reluctant at first but it didn't take long before he wanted to move up. We bought the  Losi Ten SCTE trucks next and had a ball with those. Now it's on to the Losi 8ight-T E 3.0's which are substantially more expensive - $2k before its all said and done - but they are a nice buggy. All we have to do now is keep'em on the track and hope we don't get beat by the teenager with the Tamiya Grasshopper.

I did make a crappy video on YouTube with the Rustlers. Maybe I'll post a link when I get more time.

There's a lot to know about these cars as you've illustrated. Surprises a lot of folks.
