The 2017 Jconcepts fall nationals at R/C Excitement is in the books!   My apologies for the tardiness of this race report as I’ve been putting in a lot of overtime.
We arrived on Friday afternoon for tuning and set up.   We found the track a bit low bite and we adjusted for that.   Seeding qualifyiers were Friday night, and we found ourselves well and truly in the A mains for Pro4, 2wd Mod SC and 4x4 mod buggy.   All of our rides ran on Proline M4 Electrons highly ghosted.   A combination that always seems to work at RC Excitement.
Saturday Qualifying was productive.   We took TQ in pro4 with mains to B, and we were in the top 5 in 2wd SC with mains to C , and at the back of the A in Mod buggy by the end of the day with mains to E.
Sunday we ran our last round of qualifying, and had very good runs in the SC classes, but we had some bad luck in last round of Mod Buggy, and we ended up starting second in the B main.

In the mains, the MIP Pro4 was pretty dialed in by now, and William took the TQ and the win.   In 2wd SC, our JD5 Xray was hanging with the big boys, and we took down 3rd.     We had a good start in the Mod buggy, but it got a bit rough, and we managed a 6th in the end.   All in all a great weekend at a fantastic facility that William and I are glad to call home.   Special thanks to our Sponsors.    Xray, RC America, Proline, Hobbywing, MIP, Team Scream, and Douglas and Company.

William is building quite a resume, with support from Dad and no doubt the whole family. Sounds like a great weekend Dave and I know you are proud of both kids accomplishments even aside from the racing. Congrats!!

S*#&  is about to get real.....

"Razorback" is coming.....courtesy of Secret Squirrel Engineering..

Taking everything we learned in the last 4 years of racing this class, and putting it all together

More power
Less weight
Lower CG

Take no prisoners!

Yeah    a bit.    Total rebuild

Modified chassis

low profile steering servo dropped 10mm into the chassis
bypass shock pistons
twin ducted hi performance cooling fans on the 550 4 pole motor   4300 kV   120 amp peak
5 degrees of motor boost tuned to come on late in the rpm range
20 degrees of full throttle boost.
Approximately 1 HP + at full song at the motor shaft
Heavy duty outdrives
160 amp ESC
Hand picked 8000+ Mah  80C battery packs for max discharge rate and capacity
Ball bearing steering links
HD center drive shaft
4 bearing center diff support to keep it together
Lowered battery mount 1mm which when you consider the battery weighs nearly a pound....means a lot to the CG location

Front air dam aero package for optimal jump performance.

Just gonna send it!

Dave

Very impressive Dave. The data logging should be interesting to monitor/analyze as well.

We got it running today!    It has some flaws, but nothing that can't be tuned out.   William said it's a Angry, masochistic truck!....

Blew up 1 rear diff, but the I think it was FOD.    The front tires seem to be in the air a lot.....LMAO! :lolb:

We got some tuning to do!

Angry Angry Truck!!!

Front wheels are off the ground a lot.....need more shock droop in rear, need to raise the roll center....Need to tune how the power comes on....it's really violent, but there are delays we can put in to smooth it out a bit,

More power than he's ever had.....was the comment....motor gets to about 110F...so we have plenty or air on it, and we could be pushing it far harder.....that's a good spot to be in

We've finally gotten to the point where it's just too much....but we have margin to play with...that's a good thing..

Ok  Much work done on tuning the electronics for power delivery......we've smoothed it out and gotten even more power out of it.

It's going to get a new logo on the rear deck lid.....   8)
