In OZ....the birth place of Brambles & Chep Handling ...we seem to have pallet [foot prints] which support a cubic meter...so naturally that is 1000x1000 mm

All of the 1 tonne or 1000 litre plastic tubs for liquids are also of this same cubic dimension.......

The cubic meter [cu/m] appears to be the common denominator....naturally a cu/m of toilet tissue :toilet_claw: is lighter than the same volume of liquid :DrinkPint: ....but the space taken is near identical Derek

1/12th scale load?

At 1/12 scale the load would reduce by a factor of 12^3 = 1728.  Thus the 1000 kilos mentioned above would reduce to about 20 ounces.  Hell, that's barely the weight of my martini glass and its contents. :)

Ah! but what if you machine the base of your machine from a bit of  Neutron star where 1 teaspoon = 1 billion tons?

The model would never have been built since I would have suffered spaghettification* while gathering the raw material.

Canalonian?  Does that have something to do with Panama or were you trying to spell cannelloni?

I dislike woodworking as much as most of you seem to do so this little pallet was a perfect project for me - the more wonky the assembly and the more splotchy the finish the more realistic it looks.

The whole thing was made from those flat popsicle sticks most of us remember from our youth.  (They're sold now in craft stores so kids can glue up lame constructions like this pallet.)  Sticks were cut to size with one of those neat little HF chop saws.  The "finish" was obtained from an exacting mix of water with the brown cake of one of my daughter's long discarded water paint sets.

Looks just like the professional ones that we receive at the store. Down South, pallet builders have a job, not an artsy career ;)
