Amen brother, my IPAD does the same thing. It anticipates you words and spells as it wishes.  Like you I don't always spell check. I do my best to spell correctly I even use my dictionary.

The idea of using a spelling auto-corrector is absurd.  Turn them off.  Software doesn't have a chance of correcting English spelling unless it can understand what's written in the same way a human would.  WE don't understand how we comprehend writing so the idea that a bunch of code monkeys who can't build a stable operating system could build a system to understand is utterly absurd.

Well since I've become the apparent monkey in this thread, Marv, I agree. We should be able to communicate without help from some software pro. I would like to be able to type collet and not have it changed to mullet. However, I must admit it's kinda nice to be able to type in the base of some word you're not sure of and have it corrected, without a dictionary. I'm lazy or tired one, I don't really know which. So, maybe in this setting we should be worrying about bodged parts and not bodged words, Hell we know what we are trying to say anyhoo. Mods, I say lock it.

What do you want done? The forum does not do auto checking.

It is a feature of your operating system, you need to go into the settings of your web browser and disable it
