Rebuilding Coles Corliss Engine and Looking for Tips/Help
« on: November 01, 2013, 11:57:53 PM »
Hello All - I am rebuilding a Coles Corliss Engine and would like to know if anyone has any tips on where I can get the best components for it.  Things like oilers, screws, belts etc.  I have all the original plans but need the instructions to tune and time the engine.

Thanks - George

George people will need to know where you are from to be able to identify possible suppliers for you.

Small belts are always difficult to find  :-\

This might sound a bit radical, but have you tried Coles?

In UK these geezers are worth a try  for small rubber belts :

Although I must admit they've never had exactly what I wanted ...  :'(   close, yes ... spot on, no !!

According to his profile George is in California...and btw...welcome to MEM George. Maybe you can post a short introduction in the Welcome section and tell us about your model engine interests.

Thanks for the replies.  I have added a post in the welcomed section.  I have used Coles in the past, but seem to have a  problem getting hold of them.  Are they still open?  I will also check out the URLs for the belts someone listed.

Thanks.

George

Hi George

Welcome to the forum.

American Model Engineering Supply may be a good place to check out; from what I understand years ago he was the one that made all of Coles hardware, grease cups and oil cups.

Maybe easier to deal with than Coles too.

It appears that you are already familiar with PM Research; another good company to do business with.
