Welcome to MEM Ed. Nice to have you with us. Nothing wrong with being ambitious, but just so you will know, vacuum engines can be difficult to get to run as a first engine. The fits need to be held closer than on many air engines and any binding can rob form the already low power they produce. That's not to say you can't be successful with one even as a first build, but most of us began with a simpler wobbler or oscillating engine just to gain a bit of confidence first.  Good luck and best wishes though as you embark on this new and exciting (indeed...addictive) hobby!!

 :hi: Ed,

So can we assume that you have a workshop or have access to someone else's workshop then?

Welcome Ed!

Milling machine comes later - I got by without one for nearly 30 years, now I have 2! (and a shaper)
