This sounds like it may become a group consulting project.
Best,

I got the part today.   It is as described...It appears to have very little wear if any on it....I don't think it got used very much

I checked the center height..and it's low...a very good thing!.    I'll mount this on a plate that mounts to the T slotted cross slide, and make an over arm support for the top end of the file...and a table.

I have a plan for a scroll saw with this too.....I'll elaborate....but not tonight.

Any progress on this one? I'm working on a similar project using a jig saw head I found on eBay. Of all things, I saw this idea on the Yahoo Unimat group, went to eBay and found the jig saw head!
This is on a smaller scale, and I intend to make an overarm using a section of a power hacksaw blade for the spring arm. I'll be watching your build for ideas. I need to scrounge up a proper bit of metal for the table and of course make a mount for the gearbox on the ways.

Oh, my intention for this is to use it as a scroll saw, but now I see it can also be a filer.

Unfortunatly no
too many projects going on but I was able to get some die files
Go to www.lathes.co.uk
look under the Waltham Lathe
My Waltham is featured there
They had a die filing attachme.t that I am using for inspiration.
I should get to this this winter
