Lot of familiar faces here
« on: August 24, 2013, 02:41:12 PM »
Hello, again to many of you. Looks like I finally found the destination of many from the diaspora.
For those that dont know me, my name is Jeff, and I am from the Detroit area. I am a long way from retirement, and make my living in technical support for the automotive industry. I enjoy helping people, but fully realize, that on a wide variety of subjects, it best I just shut up and learn from those who know better.  :D My background is in automotive electrical, driveability, and transmissions, while my modelling hobbies run along the lines of R/C, casting, and machining.
I tend to have way too many projects going at once, while real life contributes to a definite lack of spare time. :wallbang:
I hope to have some worthy projects to share in the future.
Jeff

 :hi: Jeff,

As someone who doesn't know you can I ask you to tell us a little more about the engines you like to build  ;D

Hi Jo,
Pleased to meet you here.
Recently, I built a PMR #5 for/with my oldest grandson, who is about to turn 5 himself.
Currently, I was working on a small, low pressure, B&Wstyle boiler for the PMR. That project had to be sidelined, as every almost every vehicle in my family has required my full attention as of late.  :disappointed:
Despite my recent, and enjoyable, flirtations in the external combustion world, my main interest is in IC engines.
I have previously built an aircraft 2 cyl boxer of my own design, and I am still using that as a testbed for ignition systems.

As to future plans, leading the pack right now is probably a V2,6,12 family in cast iron. Likely some actual machines to help in their construction as well.
I may even be prodded into posting some of my baking exploits as well.  8)

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone!
Its unfortunate, that the only engine I have been working on for the past two weeks, is my daughters 3100 in her 1991 Corsica. The blow by blow of a head gasket job would probably be, at best, "off-topic".  :facepalm2:
Although I did come across a novel (to me) way to use sandpaper glued to 1/2" plate glass to resurface the heads.  :)
