Hello all,
           my name is yotac and I hail from west berkshire.Been a lurker for some time but came to the conclusion that this is about the best site for model makers so have joined at last. I was in industry for 20 years in the 1950s, 60s and 70s and was a centre lathe turner for all of this time. Left industry in 1975 and became a self employed shop keeper (for 30 years). Started model engineering on retirement 8 years ago now and just love it. I;ve built a few engines but find you never stop learning from the amazing amount of skilled people out there on the internet.

We all love pictures, of course, and would love to see some of your efforts and hear about how they were made. Failures, *almosts*, and successes. They are all interesting.

Hello again,
                  My engines include 8 Stuart ones, a Stothart and pitt beam engine, the cross engine from anthony mount (not finished), the Tina from GLR, and the Perseus from Reeves 2000. They were all from castings. Ive made one barstock engine, the
Side Lever by Mogens Kilde and 3 small hot air engines. Photo,s of some to follow when I know how.

hello jo,
           actually i never quite finished the stothart and pitt. This engine has very many  small parts on it and by the time I got to the parallel motion I had had enough of fiddly bits. The engine works well enough without it so I left as it was.

I'd be interested in seeing that side lever engine if you get the chance. I've been looking around for a set of drawings for one that I saw at a show a few years ago but have not been able to locate any.

I made the side lever from the 'Enginering in Miniture' magazine. It was over severall
weeks worth of mags but I ordered all the back numbers to get a full set of drawings.
I think I still have them somewhere and if I can find them I will let you know dates and numbers you need but you being in the USA this may not be any good to you.
I made mine twice the size as it was rather small as it was and I don't like little fiddly parts to make and assemble. I lost the tip of index my finger on a lathe when I was 19 years old and small parts are a real pain to assemble.  Let me know if you want the magazine info.
