A bit of organization
« on: July 28, 2013, 12:10:06 AM »

I've been spending too much time looking for the correct tap and the table at my mill has begun to overflow. Time for a bit of organization.

I found dividers that are used by pen makers to display their wares.
They come in 4 or 5 colors. I went with basic black.

Apologies for the shaky pix. Couldn't be the fine Scottish produce.

The first to be done was the taps.

Then a run to Ikea for a kitchen base cabinet and free coffee.

Then, drawer by drawer. Cutters first.

Next drawer, DTIs, Blake, etc.

3d drawer, vises, collet blocks and a few others.

For now, I have abrasive papers in the bottom drawer. That may change.

I'm sure that there are many vendors for the dividers. I got mine from www.pendorapens.com. No connection to them. It was the first Google hit that came up.
Best,
Stan

For abrasive paper I use one of those plastic expanding file folders from the office supplier. Has about 12 compartments that take A4 sheets.

Nice idea for organizing abrasive papers. I'm on it

Bill
Correct. This evening I kept reaching for the end mills where they used to be. I'll get used to it.

Still thinking about an R8 collet rack. I have 16 and have never found that I needed more. Everything seems to fit in what I've got. Most of the racks online have 52 spaces. That was fine for the 5C collets. I've almost filled those 52 spaces between round, square and hex.
I may just make a base for what I've got. It's a polypropylene cutting board that drilled for the 5Cs.

I've spent the last few days on this organize/improve the shop stuff. A ceramic glass platen for the 1x42 belt sander (with consultation from Chuck Fellows), a holder on the side of the Bridgeport for the 2.5" Shop Vac hose, a wireless remote for the shop vac, putting all of the 3/16-40 pipe fittings in a compartmented plastic box. Waiting for 36 little plastic boxes with hinged lids from US Plastics for the dies.

I really need to get back to the pumping engine. I've got the railings completed, diamond plate painted and attached. The engine is in pieces and I started polishing the brass after dinner. Watch for new post with pix in a day or two.

1. Are your glasses on?
2. If you have a Windows machine, reboot. This seems to be what all Win tech support says.
3. If you have a Mac, there's nothing wrong.

Seriously, don't know. Some of the other guys are seeing them. Wifi connection?
Best,
Stan

Stan,
I think your Photobucket bandwidth allowance has been used up for the month.
Someone else was having problems with this recently - I think it was Steve (stevehuckss396).  I think his solution was to get a paid Photobucket account to increase his Photobucket bandwidth allocation.

This seems to be happening to more people lately.  I wonder if PB had changed their BW allocations or something?
