Do you have drawings for this then Roger or are you making it up as you go along?

Nick,

A bit of both. I try to design the parts with CAD and then build them, but some times have to go back and redesign. What I have done so far is on one large DWG file which I am happy to share with anyone.

Would certainly be interested. My next project will be my first I.C engine and this looks a good candidate - do you think so? i've done steam engines a hot air and a number of flame lickers so far but never an ic. Probably not much extra work anyway for the extra cam and rocker, but do you think to simplify it  it'd work with an automatic inlet?

I am not sure how well an automatic inlet would work at this size.

I have attached the drawing for my engine. I tend to use the CAD as an electronic back of an envelope but see if they make any sense. I use DraftSight which is a free AutoCAD equivalent

That is coming along well, Roger. Also good to see someone else using a vertical slide.

Chuck,

It was planned as 16mm bore, 16mm stroke, but as the bore through my lathe was a tad (old English unit) under 20mm it has ended up 15.5mm stroke.

This picture series goes back over the last couple of years. It will slow down when I get up to date and will, I hope, end with a video.
Best regards

I was in China last week and although I could read the form posting was difficult. The couple of two line replies took several minutes and pictures would not go. Must be classed as 'dubious' by the authorities  :).
Here's the next stages.

Wonderful photo-build.  Nice engine.  It amazes me to see the differing approaches, and designs that  individuals employ to create the same common mechanisms found on  most, bar-stock, 4-stroke engines.  Cams, rockers, push-rods, 2:1 reduction gears, belts, sprockets..... all different, and all work well.

Looking forward to the video....but, more to the drawings.

Great job, and thanks for sharing...and more importantly, the inspiration to want to build and engine just like yours.
