Ooohhh....... Frazer! Steady on!
There's more faffing around to do yet! Rod pivot pins, wooden base, new burner, mebbe. Then strip it down, and rebuild properly.

With the interruptions I'm having recently. This rebuild could run, and run......

Thanks Jonesie! (From another one, in real life).......

David, I was thinking that if the hot cap were just a fraction larger in diameter, the case of a C size Nicad battery would make a good one, it is 1.02" / 26 mm,  the next size down I'v never heard of, it's size RR, and is .90" / 22.8 mm dia,  I'm always looking at objects, and thinking, now will that do!!for my next project.
The flywheels look great, I carve mine out of steel, and I'm too lazy to make curved spokes, in fact the first ones I made only had three spokes.     Ian S C

Hi Ian.
Thanks for the battery reminder!

I do the same, with household items. Imagining what's hiding inside.......  http://madmodder.net/index.php?topic=5732.0

A pal cast me several copies of the original flywheel. I wouldn't have the patience to chop one out of m/s......  ::)

Hi David, Nice to see another who goes round looking at things and thinking would that make a displacer/hot end or what ever  :Lol:I just get that knowing look from my better half
Good tip on the batteries it had never crossed my mind
The Mailwald is looking good I'm a bit surprised how much work has had to be put into her
Thanks

Stainless Steel salt and pepper shakers, stainless sugar bowls, kitchen ware is quite fruitfull, I hunt out secondhand shops, never had any problem going around with a rule, measuring things.

Well...... This is still progressing, slowly.   :-\

Unfortunately, the enthusiasm's been a bit lacking recently. Spent a lot of time with other things, and the gonna do's.

Made a new burner......

Complete with removable cap, held with O ring.......

Then I spent a nice hour, this afternoon experimenting with burner settings.......

Just the rod lengths left to fiddle with, and make pivot pins, instead of the M3 screws.

Yes...... I know, it's been a while.

So frustrated with the slow progress, and other frustrations.   :wallbang:   I put it back in the toy cupboard, for 8 months......

Finally, got around to it, last week. Everything went well, for a change!  :D

I really like the, "teamwork" flywheels........

JB-welded a stainless disc, to keep the burner in place.......

And, the final video......

It's been a very frustrating job. But, it's all I hoped for, when I started out.  :)
