Welcome to the forum George.
I like that car!
Looking forward to seeing your builds. And I'll be interested in what you think of your machines.
What part of the world are you in?

No dumb questions here George....but dumb looks are free

Welcome...we have a nice bunch of people here....ask away!

Dave

You clearly haven't been reading my posts  :lolb: . . . but I work on the principle that if you don't ask the dumb questions you stay dumb.

and they certainly are a nice bunch of people here

So welcome George, from another beginner who is used to somewhat looser tolerances . . . farm machinery mostly!

Mike (also of retirement age but not yet retired)

Thanks also to Dave & Mike - you do seem a friendly lot :D

So, any suggestions for a first build? - I am taken by the idea of a beam engine but realise that it takes a lot of dedication and time to get one to the running stage.

If you haven't built an engine before, take a look at a simple wobbler.   Lot's to keep you interested, and it gets you through the basics.

JMHO...
