ANZAC Day
« on: April 25, 2013, 12:19:47 AM »
Well, my sympathies on the death of Margaret Thatcher got me in a world of trouble with the Brits.  Hopefully the folks in the Antipodes will be a bit more understanding.

My condolences to all the Australians and New Zealanders for the sacrifices your people made in the pursuit of freedom.  Thank you for doing what was needed, despite the cost.
Regards, Marv

Cheers Marv,
A day a nation came of age. The remembrance's are getting bigger each year. Great that the kids of today may understand what their forebears sacrificed...........wonder how many of the 18 to 30 year olds today, I have 2 sons in this age group, would take up arms. A few years ago my wife & I went to Monte Casino & walked thru the New Zealand part of the cemetery, looking at the ages of those that gave their all was to say the least very sobering.

Cheers Kerrin

Marv,

Thank you for your thoughts on this our day of rememberance. I cannot believe its 54 years since i signed up, 50 years since Confrontation with Indonesia and 47 years since our getting involved in Vietnam.

Alas then there were the Gulf Wars Iraq and Afghanistan.

May all our serving personnel keep safe.

Thanks Marv.

Geez Bob - you make me feel like a mere boy! 46 years since I put on the slouch hat.
