Yes, everyone I know is safe... but 3 people have died, at least half a dozen are in critical condition, and approximately 100 have been injured.
SWAT teams in the center of the city and guarding the hospitals...  Intense.

I am very glad to hear you and yours are OK!

Has any group claimed responsibility?  I haven't watched the news yet......just online.

Ditto!   I can't think of a more hideous action.....

One of my co-workers finished his run 1 minute before the first one went off.... :o

I think it will be a while before all the rhetoric on the news channels stops.   It would be good to get the straight truth on what went down...but there's a ton of speculation at the moment....and understandably....the authorities are being rather quiet.   I'm sure the next 24 hours will tell.

My nephew was across the street from blast 2 and close enough to feel impact. A Niece was a block down from that and could feel the ground shake. Another niece works in a building between the blasts but had the day off and was not in town.
Just makes you stop and think, and then get very pissed off!

We had it on our morning news channel very soon after the event. It was quite horrific and reminded me of the 9/11 coverage that we got in real time (interrupted an episode of West Wing at the time).

I am pleased that the authorities are handling it in a responsible manner avoiding the creation of divisions within the community. It will take time to track down the culprits but there is a good chance that they will be identified and brought to justice.

I note that the NRA are trumpeting the fact that tighter gun laws would not have prevented this tragedy.

It's another very sad moment which reflects just how far parts of society have fallen down the slippery slope of extremism. My sympathies to all in the US affected by this event.

Offenders in this class are not worthy of the title human and IMHO should be put down.

Bob,
I agree and I think 99% of 'society' would also agree, what I cannot understand why the perpetrators of such inhuman barbarism are allowed to live.

What makes me sick is when our fearless leader says they will feel the "full weight of justice" it's our good old taxpaying dollars that will load the bags. We will bear the burden of providing them with council, health care, food, clothing, and lodging. If they want to pursue a continuing education, Hell, we'll pay for that also. I ain't saying execute them( although, if we hung a few of them bad boys up on a limb somewhere) But, I bet there are some islands somewhere we could dump them and let them live ( or die) like the animals they want to be.

My Almost Redneck Rant
Eric

And yeah Jim, that's another gripe. I ain't heard one person say " we gotta control those darn trash cans"

Everything around Watertown...is locked down.   No business open , no car traffic...no public transit...no boats.

Thats about 20 miles east from me....Tom is in the middle of it.

I know some of my co-workers won't be at work today......Everybody be safe out there!

I hope he's taken alive, if only for the undoubtedly pathetic reason for doing such an abominable thing being revealed. And what if others are also involved?

My hope is that that take this individual into custody alive but absolutely pray to heaven the media won't turn it into a dog and pony show such as the Arias trial. Give me a break. Is this society of ours so desperate for such 'reality events' that the average Joe schlep has to be bombarded :Director:  with the lunacy 24/7? There are more pressing issues that need our attention and this person is not one of them.

Jim....Tragedy TV will be all over this for days......regardless

Whether he's dead or alive....I suspect if he is tried...it would be by tribunal...but his older dead brother had already become a naturalized citizen....if this one is too....it'll be a fiasco.....ACLU ect will be all over it....

Get the popcorn......

Clearly this piece of SH((* has some training...he's still on the loose....

I've never seen so many cops in one place....and he got by....don't know how that happened.
