Seeing the lathe turned on with the indicator next to the chuck brought back some (kind of) fond memories.
When I was working in my first tool room we had a jar we would all put a quarter a week into. The first one to turn on a bridgeport with an indicator in the spindle would "win" the pot. And then we would all play "find the indicator parts." That was back in the day when a Last Word indicator cost around $20 and a first class toolmaker was making around $7 an hour.
