Hello from Adelaide
« on: July 21, 2012, 04:34:52 AM »
Hi All,

First things first, a very big thank you to Bogs and his silent partner for setting up this site. (If there was a bow I'd use several).

I see so many familiar names already and it makes me feel good.

For the lucky ones who don't know me, my name is Bob Holme and I live just south of Adelaide, South Australia, in a beachside town called oddly enough Aldinga Beach.

I started my working career as a deck hand on a prawn trawler, working off the Queensland coast at age 14. Subsequently I went back to school and secured an apprenticeship in the RAN, where I served for some 16years. After that I was a Lubricants Engineer for British Petroleum. When they caught up with me I went to ground for a couple of years before taking on the restoration of an old steam tug and SA's old police launch. Both of them now earn their keep as fare paying passenger vessels.

I took up model engineering on my retirement and have built 3-9/10 model engines and 1/10 model boiler.

Thank you for having me.

Best Regards
Bob

Hi Bob

Welcome aboard!

Kind regards, Arnold
Building an engine takes Patience, Planning, Preparation and Machining.
Procrastination is nearly the same, but it precludes machining.
Thus, an engine will only be built once the procrastination stops and the machining begins!

Kevin, Sandy, Andrew, Arnold and Tim,

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Sandy,

Some time ago Bogs and I were discussing where you had gone. Great to have you surface again. Now I can look forward to some serious help as I try and build a boiler.
