Steve and Pete,

Thanks for looking in and your support.  :NotWorthy: :NotWorthy:

I started on rounding the tube plates yesterday. It's going to be a slow process  :( The welds are as hard as the hobs of hell small cuts and 2 passes are the order of the day, otherwise the lathe is ready to jump off its' mounts.

Best Regards
Bob

Hi Guys,

Are any of you having problems with photobucket?...........try as I might I just seem to be in an endless loop of login.   :killcomputer: In desperation I've signed up with Flickr and that's why these are a bit weird.

At least I feel like I achieved something in the shop

Beveling the tube plates for welding.

The parts look great Bob!   I've had intermittent problems with PB and their new software....so I opted for the old software....which works .....for me ......better.

A mock up the beast

'beast' indeed. That is going to be some boiler.

I had problems with PB a week or so back but not since. They may be rolling out in waves and you're in a trough for a bit.

I didn't know you could opt for old vs new software. I'd tried staying with an older version of FB but then they forced it down my gullet.

Things always change faster than I want them to. Me included.

Dave and Zee,

Thanks for stopping by.

Old PB I'm in a trough. New PB can't get at it. All in all it's a right royal mess for me, maybe it's because we're upside down.

Best Regards
Bob

Don't ask me what's going on  :killcomputer:

My XP computer will access photobucket but my windows 7 will not. I wiped all my cookies and all my bookmarks for PB but no I just go round in a never ending loop of sign in, upload, try new, sign in etc.

OK here are the photos from PB via XP.

Bob, it looks impressive, how are you going to weld it, Arc, MIG or TIG?

Rather you than me :insane:. I find boilers a challenge and avoid them like the plague .

Steve, Dave, Gavin and Jo,

Thanks for your input and support.  :NotWorthy: :NotWorthy: :NotWorthy: :NotWorthy:

Dave

Dave,

Not for a while yet, next is to make all the bosses for the various inlets and outlets. After that the stays and internals such as the dry and feed pipes. Then we can start welding. The Plan is :
1. Bosses
2. Furnace tube to front tubeplate.
3. Front tubeplate to shell.
4. Internals and stays.
5. Rear tubeplate to shell and furnace.

Bob, it looks impressive, how are you going to weld it, Arc, MIG or TIG?

Rgds - Gavin

Gavin,

I favour TIG - "no mess charlie" I don't have MIG and if all else fails tried and trusty Arc.

Best Regards
Bob

Don,

Thanks for your support  :NotWorthy:

Today I had a clean up..............around 10kg of swarf and assorted crap was extracted and dumped from places I had forgotten existed. Then I had a play with my H&Miss but I'd left my electrical toolbox at home...................So I made a start on the bosses for the various ins and outs on the shell.

No pictures...........turning something round and drilling a hole in it is not terribly photogenic.

Best Regards
Bob
