Thanks, to all, for the kind words.

That's cool Chuck....Nice to see it running both ways!

So what color are you painting it?

Dave

Dave, I'm currently planning on painting it Hunter Green, although it remains to be seen if the paint I have on hand is still useable.  All the machined surfaces will stay metallic with the balance being painted.

Not quite back to running yet, but far enough along for some teaser photos...

In addition to the paint, I made a few more improvements.  I cut cooling fins into the cylinder, more for looks than function.  I also decided to install keys in the crank disk and the flywheel - the setscrews were beginning to tear out.  Still have to install the ignition system and the fuel tank.

Looking great Chuck, I like the groves in the cylinder with the green accent around the perimeters great touch.

Been thinking of doing something like that on a radial. Basically, anodize the cylinder, then take a finishing cut to remove the anodized coloration on the outer diameter, leaving the cooling fin grooves anodized. I think it could look really cool with the right colors.

Here is the finished engine.

I think this vapor fuel tank is also a keeper.  It's made from a test tube, 1.5" (38mm) diameter and about 4" long.

Thanks Jo, Nick, Chuck.

Chuck, I should probably get back to the Bessemer and finish it up.  I'm also considering getting back to my compressed air version of Randall Cox's Hoglett in 3/4 scale.  And, I've been looking over plans for a stirling engine helicopter that's pretty cool.

At some point I need to start documenting and creating plans for some of the engines I've designed and built.  I would like to leave some kind of legacy for current and future model engine builders.
